Miss Reenie’s Babies was created in honor of our mother Maureen; a super talented seamstress and single mother of four. Today, at eighty+ years young, she is still the queen of repurposing – taking trim or beading off one thing and blinging out another.
In 1980, she made a doll to send to a pen pal in Japan. The trim and embroidery made the doll appear expensive, however it was made from scraps of trim and fabric she saved from other projects. She showed the doll to a friend who immediately fell in love with it and asked her to make another one for her daughter; Reenie’s Remnant Ragdolls was born. That one doll turned into hundreds of dolls created by Miss Reenie in her tiny sewing room.
Mom’s dream was to open a business of her own however she never got the opportunity. Her children inherited her creativity and entrepreneurial spirit and have picked up the ball. Thus, Miss Reenie's Babies has a double meaning; her children (human babies) creating doll babies just like she did.
We are blessed that this is happening while she is still here to witness and enjoy the fruits of her labor. Below are pictures of Miss Reenie's human babies and the dolls that started it all over 40 years ago.
Your support of our small, female owned, minority business, means so much! Thank you!
